How to apply

Find information on how to apply for accommodation as a returning student.

Surplus accommodation applications are now closed. Applications for Colchester and Southend can be made via the waiting list.

Applications will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to live with your friends, please make sure you list all their PRIDs when applying. Each of your friends must also submit their own application and have the same preferences as you. Please note that we may not be able to house you together.

When you fill in your application form, list your choice of locations in order of preference. Don't select any type of room you're not prepared to accept. You can see all the different accommodation options, however, not all areas will be available to returning students for 2021-22.

Returning Study Abroad students

Any returning Study Abroad students are able to apply for the 2021-22 academic year via the surplus application process, which are open now on our returning pages.

The waiting list, which will replace the surplus application process, will open in late September. We will have a limited number of rooms available, so any applications received once these are filled will be added to the waiting list and a room offered as soon as one becomes available. This will not be guaranteed accommodation, but you will be a priority above other returning students on the Waiting List.

If you are a returning undergraduate Study Abroad student, but have eligible overseas status and applied via the returning applications process that opened in December 2020 and closed in January 2021, you will be guaranteed accommodation.
