This seminar explores silence and melancholia as psychic effects of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) policies in diverse accounting spaces. Drawing from research that investigates the psychic effects of EDI policies and practices on a queer accounting academic, focusing on Miguel’s experiences as a black and gay subject in a normative accounting space.
Tassiani Dos Santos is EDI Lead in the Accounting Department and Assistant Professor of Accounting at Durham University. She is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Disclosure and Governance. Tassiani previously lectured at universities in Brazil and has over ten years of professional experience across multiple industries in Brazil and Germany.
Tassiani’s research focuses on democracy and diversity as part of a broader research agenda to promote social justice within the field of accounting and accountability. She explores how plural and alternative forms of accounting and accountability can enable democratic engagement, ethical practices, and foster more inclusive organisational practices, with particular attention to marginalised groups.
