The University of Essex School of Law and Human Rights Centre invite you to a one hour session exploring how international law is used to hold states accountable, with a focus on arbitrary detention, ecocide, and housing and social rights in Latin America.

The discussion brings together UN human rights experts from the University of Essex and will be chaired by Julie Hannah:

They will reflect on their UN mandates, current challenges in Latin America, and how principles such as the social function of property shape rights to housing, land, and social protection across the region.

  • Dr Koldo Casla on social rights, the social function principle, and housing rights
