This study investigates the employment outcomes of linguistics graduates in Canada and compares them with the career pathways typically promoted by universities.

This discussion-based seminar features a conversation with one of the co-authors of the 2023 Language journal article, “Linguist is as linguist does: A comparative study on the employment and income of graduates from linguistics programs in Canada.” The study investigates the employment outcomes of linguistics graduates in Canada and compares them with the career pathways typically promoted by universities. The seminar offers an opportunity to reflect on how these findings relate to the contexts of the UK and other parts of the world, exploring both shared patterns and key differences in linguistics graduates’ professional trajectories.

This seminar will be hosted online and is open to all.

You may read more on the full study in the accompanying discussion article.
