The University of Essex is hosting the third edition of the Essex PhD Conference in Applied Economics on 20th-21st March 2025.
The conference will be held in person at the Colchester Campus of the University of Essex, and is organised by the PhD students at the Economics Department and the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER).
This two-day conference is designed to provide PhD students in Applied Economics with the opportunity to come together and connect with other PhD students from institutions across the globe in a supportive environment in which they can present their work and ideas to their peers and receive valuable feedback. We are very pleased to be hosting Imran Rasul (UCL) and Ben Etheridge (University of Essex) as keynote speakers at the conference.
The conference is open to PhD students at all stages of study, as well as to early career researchers who have completed their PhD in the academic year 2023-24. The conference program will include 20-minute ‘full presentations’ followed by a discussion and Q&A session (10 minutes), as well as shorter ‘flash presentation’ sessions (approx. 5 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions) for students to showcase in-progress work and ideas. Poster presentations are available but optional. Submissions are welcome from all areas of Applied Economics.
Applicants are invited to submit extended abstracts not exceeding two pages, outlining the background and motivation, research objective, data and methodology, key findings and contributions of the work. All submissions will be reviewed by a scientific committee comprising of faculty members from the University of Essex Economics Department.
Applications must be submitted by 3rd January 2025 11:59 PM (GMT). Applicants will be notified of acceptance by mid-January 2025.
