Seminar summary

This event is a discussion with Juliana Lim about her pioneering role as an arts manager in Singapore, as described in her book For Arts’ Sake: Memoirs of a Singapore Arts Manager. Take a behind-the-scenes journey of Singapore’s arts scene between the 1970s and the 2000s with insider Juliana Lim, arts manager extraordinaire. Joining Singapore’s elite Administrative Service in 1973, Juliana found herself in overseeing arts and cultural policy and implementing key initiatives, such as the Cultural Vision 1999 and the building of Esplanade: Theatres by the Bay, Singapore’s iconic arts centre. This is the untold story of the ideas, policies and people behind the development of Singapore’s arts scene.
