David will share insights into a career in banking regulation at a number of City and International law firms. He will speak about the development of bank and financial services regulatory law and his experience of engaging with multiple jurisdictions in this area. David will also give advice on positioning yourselves for legal practice in banking regulation. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
Speaker:
David Toube was called to the Bar in 1993, and after teaching public law at Queen Mary, University of London, he practiced bank and financial services regulatory law at Ashurst, before transferring to the London office of the US law firm, Cleary Gottlieb, where he ran the European bank regulatory practice as Counsel.
His work included licensing applications, advice on compliance with UK and EU regulatory matters, acquisitions of controlling stakes and investigations, as well as money laundering and sanctions compliance.
David now works at the School of Law, University of Essex
