With Prince Andrew being served with a sexual assault lawsuit and Meghan and Harry stepping down from their Royal duties amidst charges of mental health neglect and racism in the Royal household, it is perhaps no surprise that the support of the Monarchy is falling among young people. Over the last two years, support for the monarchy among those aged 18-24 has fallen from 46% to 31% according to YouGov, with 41% now supporting the introduction of an elected head of state. In the older population, however, support for the monarchy is still strong (at 81% among over 65s), with supporters arguing that the monarchy is good value for money, a source of stability and important cultural heritage. Join us as we discuss the future of the monarchy: should we keep our Queen as the head of state, or is it time to abolish the Monarchy?
