Essex Startups is offering an opportunity for students to come and pitch their business idea in front of a jury to win micro-funding for their business - Dragons' Den style. A pot of up to £250 is available.
What does the process involve?
You need to deliver a 5 minute pitch (followed by a 5 minute Q&A from the judges).
We want you to think about and be able to answer the following questions:
- What is the problem you have identified in your market?
- What is your solution? Aka, what is your business idea that solves the issue?
- What is your Mission and your Unique Selling Point? (what will make you stand out from your competitors - do you even have competitors?)
- What are the strengths and weaknesses in your business?
- Can you show your business is going to be financially viable? (Where is your revenue coming from? What kind of potential costs are you facing?)
- What is your "Go To Market" strategy? (You'll need to know who your target audience is & what your marketing strategy will be – aka, how will you reach your target audience?)
- What will you use the (£250) funding for?
Make the pitch your own and present it however you want. Either with some presentation slides or just your creative self and talking freely – completely up to you. The length of the pitch cannot be longer than 5 minutes.
