Student Wellbeing Workshops - Give

A series of 30-minute sessions exploring the themes of mental health and wellbeing, has been developed for University of Essex students by Essex Partnership University NHS Trust.

A series of 30-minute sessions exploring the themes of mental health and wellbeing, has been developed for University of Essex students by Essex Partnership University NHS Trust.

Aims

  • To offer a series of online sessions where students can access information, advice and support on issues of mental health and wellbeing.
  • To consider the nature and role of stress and anxiety in the context of academia, recognise when these are proving problematic and discover ways to better manage the problems effects.

Objectives

  • For students to develop an appreciation of mental health and wellbeing as an integral and essential component of health overall.
  • For students to recognise their self-knowledge and abilities to cope with the normal stressors of life.
  • For students to gain an enhanced understanding of mental health and wellbeing in relation to themselves and their wider communities.
  • To raise awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the pursuit of academic success.
  • To empower students through discussion and information sharing to take positive action for their own mental health and wellbeing and act on concerns promptly.
  • To promote confidence for students in offering reasonable help and support to each-other and in recognising when concerns should be escalated.
  • To consider the nature and process of making changes and recognising the effects.

These workshops will be framed around the broad themes of the Five Ways To Wellbeing:

  • CONNECT – talk, listen, be there, feel connected
  • BE ACTIVE – do what you can, enjoy what you do, move your mood
  • TAKE NOTICE – remember the simple things that give your joy
  • KEEP LEARNING – embrace new experiences and opportunities, surprise yourself
  • GIVE – your time, your words, your presence

Workshops will be delivered via Zoom 2.30-3pm on the following dates:
