Res Life Online Events from 15 - 21 February

Each week we'll be posting a selection of online programmes hosted by our fantastic Residents' Assistant (RA) team. Take part in any events or activities which you're interested in. This is a great opportunity to make new friends, stay connected, and be part of our online community.

All Residence Life programmes are open to both on and off campus students from any location – no booking needed, just log on and join the event at the start time.

• Wheel of Knowledge - 21 Questions

Monday 15 February

Join us for a fun evening playing “21 Questions” which is a great game for students to engage with each other. The purpose of the game is to ask another attendee 21 questions, all of which must be answered in a honest way so you get to know new people. Questions and ice-breakers will be provided during the event. Hosted by Southend RA Agnes. 

• Connect with Others

Tuesday 16 February

This event will focus on interacting with other students during the pandemic to reduce the feelings of loneliness. We will play some games, do quizzes and have breakout room discussions to provide the opportunity for you to connect with other students in this difficult period of lockdown. We will also have discussions around mental health and how we support our wellbeing. Information about support services and resources will also be provided. Hosted by Southend RA Alex. 

• Coping During Lockdown

Thursday 18 February

This programme will explore and provide coping strategies to battle loneliness during the current situation. We will discuss positive and negative coping strategies and also talk about how we can support a friend or family member who is going through a tough time. We will also have a discussion around adapting to the current lifestyle and the support services and resources available to help keep mental health issues at bay. Hosted by Southend RA Adedapo. 

• Virtual Games Night

To help with feelings of isolation and loneliness this programme aims to bring people together for a games night, to include campus bingo and online card games. Join in for a fun evening and with an opportunity to meet other students. Hosted by Colchester SRA Jemma. 

• Netflix Watch Party

Saturday 20 February

Join us on Zoom where you'll then receive a URL link to join the Netflix party to meet and chat with other students and watch a movie together. Ensure you have the 'Teleparty' extension downloaded and installed onto your Chrome browser beforehand. Hosted by RA Bronson (North)

• Keeping in Touch (At a Distance)

As lockdown continues, we know it’s vital to stay connected. Come join this session to celebrate, vent, and share how we’re staying in touch with one another and keeping things varied. Talk through your worries and share your experiences. By doing this, you may be giving another student new options to explore, make friends, and handle lockdown. • Cook with Me

Come along and find out more about French gastronomy and have a go at making your own traditional French dish, ‘tartiflette’. This will also be a programme to share popular recipes that you have been cooking as your student culinary favourites. Add some more dishes to your recipe repertoire! • Trivia Night

Meet up with other students and test your trivia knowledge in this fun, interactive quiz hosted by RA David (North).
