Join us for a week of memorable online events including a new take on our annual tradition - the Chalking of the steps.
Human Rights Week 2020 takes place from 7 - 11 December, the Human Rights Centre along with the University of Essex Human Rights Society would be normally getting ready to chalk the steps between squares 3 and 4 with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNDHR) to start of the week. This year has brought new challenges with regards to ways of working and this is why we are asking YOU to contribute wherever you are in the world by taking part in a virtual chalking.
How to get involved with the Virtual Chalking
Choose an article from the simplified version of the UNDHR and let us know here which one you are interested in doing. Think how you can best communicate that article with others - your local community or people around the world. You might choose to chalk the words somewhere others can see, or make a placard, or find another way to inspire a conversation about human rights.
Take a picture or make a short video clip of what you do. Please make sure we can see where you are. (If you want to talk as well as chalk, you can also send us clips describing what you are doing and what the process means to you).
Send your photos and video clips to lawhrcevents@essex.ac.uk by 8 December. Members of the Essex Human Rights Centre Community including alumni are encouraged to take part. If you are an alumni please also let us know what course you completed along with your year of graduation.
Please note: Image files must be at least 1MB in size to be included.
Please film any video clips landscape, not portrait. If clips are too big to email, you can download the Box app and upload your clips to this folder.
Please do not chalk places without permission.
