We’re hosting our next talk in the Essex in London series at Amnesty International UK, Shoreditch.
Leading Essex academics, Professor Pete Fussey and Dr Daragh Murray, will share their Essex research on the changing use of surveillance in relation to developments in digital technology. This not only generated new potencies and capabilities for surveillance technologies, but generated new challenges for their regulation and governance.
In particular, the talk will analyse the role of Human Rights Law approaches to addressing these dilemmas.
You may recognise these academics for their work in identifying the ways that police facial recognition software breaches Human Rights Law.
Daragh was also part of a team recently awarded a Times Higher Award for International Collaboration of the Year.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A, chaired by Executive Dean for the Faculty of Humanities, Professor Andrew Le Sueur and you’ll have the opportunity to network with members of the Essex community.
We’re excited to be hosting this talk and hope to see you there.
