How can we support older people as they transition into a residential a home? Meet the community members that care...

Who cares?

Join us as we celebrate and honour the experience of the individual, both within the residential home setting and the wider community. Connect with residents, relatives, home managers, volunteers and charity representatives as we discuss the residential care experience.

We aim to understand how social isolation impacts older people living in a residential home setting. Listen to the experiences of the residents, their carers and their staff, as we discuss how best to improve the quality of life for older people living in care. Residents, families, residential home staff and members of the public, students and staff from the university are all welcome to attend. Anyone interested in improving the lives of older people in care will find this event inspiring.

Join Dr Bethany Morgan Brett from the Department of Psychosocial and Psychanalytic Studies as she hosts this panel discussion with guests from the care community. This event will take place from 1pm - 4pm on Wednesday 6 November at the University of Essex on the Colchester campus. A networking reception from 4pm - 5pm will follow.

This event is part of the nationwide Festival Of Social Science, it is open to the public and completely free of charge.
