Bleak House

Bleak House, a physical theatre adaption of Dickens' novel by the renowned David Glass Ensemble, is coming to our Lakeside Theatre.

Bleak House is a powerfully physical, gothic retelling of the Dickens’ novel that follows Esther Summerson’s search for family and identity set against a brutal legal system hell bent on destroying those beneath it. Pickpockets, prostitutes, rowdy drunks and con artists all feature, immersing us into a dank Victorian Britain, recreating the dark and dismal world of the lower orders of London.

Themes of Love, Power, Poverty and Choice ring loudly at this time of social upheaval.

Bleak House is a production of the David Glass Ensemble co-commissioned by Theatre Royal Winchester and New Theatre Royal Portsmouth, with support from Konzept Arts & Ideas, Bath Spa University & Santander Universities
