Held outside in the squares, this marketplace-style recruitment event connects students with employers. The focus is very much on part-time, flexible opportunities that can fit around your studies. The employers are a mix of local companies offering part time work and internships, local charities looking to recruit volunteers and opportunities available on campus.

To earn some money whilst you study is probably the biggest reason why so many students come along. But having a part-time job that is flexible around your studies is not just about cashing in, it's also a chance for you to gain valuable work experience during your time here, to develop new skills and, if you're working off campus, a chance for you to socialise with other people outside of University life. A part-time job can help you work out what you're good at and what you'd like to do more of in the future, which is a pretty important step in working out a career plan!

If you don't want to / don't need to / or are not permitted to work and earn during your studies, then volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, be social and crucially, to give something back. There are lots of worthy causes out there and volunteering can be a fun and rewarding way to spend your free time. The V Team will be on hand to showcase their exciting new volunteering projects for this year, and answer any questions you may have.

Big Essex Award

In addition to work and volunteering opportunities, you can find out more and sign up to the Big Essex Award, where you can use extra-curricular, work and volunteering experience you undertake during your studies to count towards units.

Booking

You don’t need to book onto this event, just turn up and start speaking to exhibitors! Everyone attending will be happy to talk to you, but if you’d like some advice about how to approach employers, make your first stop the Student Development stand who can give you some support.
