The University of Essex and Kaplan Singapore Applied Learning and Teaching Conference 2019

The conference theme will be "Pedagogy and Play in Teaching Today".

The inaugural University of Essex and Kaplan Singapore Applied Learning and Teaching Conference is themed around the Pedagogy and Play in Teaching Today and will explore the approaches to applied teaching and learning that utilise and draw from play as a pedagogical approach.

Play is often thought of as the opposite of serious work, yet from the new economy to the digital classroom, increasingly we are seeing where the ludic is drawn upon as a resource to inspire, motivate, and sometimes, control.

What we can make of these dynamics for rethinking approaches to teaching and learning today?

Conference programme

Friday 12 April 2019

9:30 start

Curious Chimeras Workshop (2 hours): The Curious Chimeras believe that games are an experience. Through Curious Chimera games, players can adventure fearlessly, engage in meaningful interactions with others and ultimately form a community that allows for exploration, learning and the understanding of new and different perspectives.

We believe that games have the power to be creative tools to spur and focus the imaginations of players. As players interact with each other, we not only create stories, but also discover more about ourselves, our friends and the environment that we live in. We create games and run events that build social interactions and community.

Full programme TBC.
