In this talk, Dr John O'Donohue will discuss ecological phenomena involving cooperation between individuals at different life-history stages. Examples include the digestive process of ant colonies and protective parenting.

A series of theoretical models will be presented which predict the implications of this positive density dependence for the associated populations.

Finally Dr O'Donohue will give a short overview of some soil dynamical models that are currently being developed at the University of Limerick.
