Professor Rhiannon Corcoran will discuss her work on how place and community contribute to mental health and wellbeing.
Rhiannon will present converging research findings from the Prosocial Place Programme, the What Works Centre for Wellbeing and the NIHR CLAHRC –NWC that together help to unpack the Urbanicity effect – the robust and longstanding finding that ‘urban’ living is associated with higher prevalence of mental distress compared to ‘non-urban’ living. She will explore the concept of prosociality as a strategic foundation upon which to base future resilient urban regeneration and place-making practice.
Rhiannon is a Professor of Psychology and Public Mental Health at the University of Liverpool.
