Alternative medicine is an umbrella term encompassing health care approaches developed outside standard science-based medicine.

While some of these approaches can have a role in addressing specific patients' physical, psychological and spiritual needs, others are fraudulent practices that lack any biological plausibility and often cause harmful effects on the health of people.

The latter have been – and still are – widely used and supported by people, with deceitful propagation of false and dangerous medical information taking place both in traditional and social media.

The presentation will focus on several recent studies pivoting around dangerous uses of alternative medicine in the UK, Italy and Australia.

Open to all.
