The History Research Seminar meets on Wednesday afternoons during term time to discuss a paper by a visiting historian or a member of our academic staff.
This week's speaker is Essex historian Dr Tom Freeman.
Tom's interest in history stemmed from a curiosity about different cultures and religions, and the origins and developments of these cultures and beliefs. After teaching history in the US at sixth-form level, Tom obtained his PhD and went on to teach history at academic level. His research interests concern the middle ages, medieval and early modern period and in this week's seminar he discusses women in the Marian persecution, 1555-58.
