In this talk I will review the scientific reasons why psychologists should systematically adopt open science practices. I will further argue that we need a push towards the adoption of these practices in the research produced by our department for both scientific and non-scientific reasons. I will present an analysis of the open science practices adopted in the empirical articles published by the members of our department in 2016 and show that despite being on a good track further improvement is needed in pre-registration and making data and materials open. I will showcase a few easy-and-quick steps toward adopting open science practices and discuss further possible ways of improving transparent research practices in the department.
