SPAH Seminar Series: Dr Conor McHugh

Reasons and Reasoning

The Philosophy and Art History Research Seminar meets weekly in term on Thursday afternoons to discuss a paper by a visiting philosopher, art historian, or a member of our academic staff.

This week's speaker is University of Southampton philosopher Dr Conor McHugh.

Before joining Southampton, Conor studied his PhD at the University of Edinburgh and went on to become postdoctoral research fellow at the Institut Jean Nicod in Paris. He is interested in a range of topics in epistemology, philosophy of mind, and value theory, including the nature of belief and of attitudes more generally, normativity, mental agency, doxastic non-voluntarism and self-knowledge. In this week's seminar, Conor will discuss reasons and reasoning.

The seminar will be followed by informal drinks at Top Bar and a meal.
