The Philosophy and Art History Research Seminar meets weekly in term on Thursday afternoons to discuss a paper by a visiting philosopher, art historian, or a member of our academic staff.
This week's speakers are Essex philosopher Dr Marie Guillot and UCL philosopher Professor Lucy O'Brien.
Marie studied philosophy in France, at the École Normale Supérieure (Fontenay St Cloud), at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and at the Institut Jean Nicod, where she did her PhD as well as an MSc in cognitive science. She also studied fine arts at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (Paris). She has published articles in journals such as Synthese, Teorema, the Review of Philosophy and Psychology and Philosophical Explorations.
Lucy has been at University College London since 1992; first as a Lecturer, then as Reader in Philosophy from 2004, more recently being appointed Professor in 2014. Prior to joining UCL she held a post-doctoral position at the Centre for Philosophical Studies at King's College London. Lucy was the Honorary Director of the Aristotelian Society from 2008-2014 and is currently co-editor of the journal MIND with A.W.Moore.
The seminar will be followed by informal drinks at Top Bar and a meal.
