At Essex, we’re committed to tackling gender inequity and are dedicated to promoting a positive and inclusive environment for all our colleagues.

Through our commitment to the Athena Swan Charter, we have implemented a number of actions to advance the careers of women including launching the women’s network, closing the professorial gender pay gap and removing other unfair gender pay gaps, promoting a better work-life balance and becoming a founding member of the Essex LGBT alliance.

Now it’s time for us to renew our Athena SWAN award and we want to hear from you about your experiences of working at Essex. Have we delivered against our equality actions? Have we made progress towards gender equity? Are there areas we still need to improve?

Take part in our cultural survey and let us hear your views and take action on your key concerns. By helping us evaluate gender equity across our institution, you will help us identify new actions and create plans for tackling existing disparities. We want our renewed action plan to reflect your experiences and concerns and your responses will help us continue to develop an equitable work and study environment and embed gender equity in our institutional culture.

The survey is anonymous and only wishes to capture your personal views. The aggregated survey responses will inform our submission to Athena SWAN and the overall results will be included in our institutional submission.

Closing date for the survey is 13 March 2023.
