Christmas leave arrangements – 24 December

I am delighted that, from this year onwards, a discretionary day of leave will be granted on 24 December when this falls on a weekday, which means staff will have an additional half day of leave.

Christmas Eve falls on a weekday this year. This means that staff whose roles permit it may depart for their holidays at the end of their working day on Thursday 23 December 2021 and return on Tuesday 4 January 2022. We will ensure that HR Organiser is updated to reflect this change and anyone who has already booked leave for 24 December will have the day recredited to your leave allowance.

Staff whose roles mean that you must continue to work on 24 December will be granted equivalent time off in lieu, through your Head of Department/Head of Section.

For those who are able to make an early start to the winter break in this way, I’m sure you will all want to join me in thanking those colleagues working over the holiday on our campuses or from home to keep essential services operating including supporting students remaining in residence.
