We spoke to Estivaliz to discuss her journey so far at Essex Business School as she starts her role as a course rep.
Studying at Essex Business School has been an incredibly positive experience so far. I’ve had the chance to learn from experts across a wide range of fields mathematics, statistics, finance, accounting, economics, marketing, sustainability, and more. Each subject has opened new doors, helping me build a strong foundation for both academic success and future career opportunities.
Like many students, I’ve faced moments of anxiety and self-doubt. What keeps me going is reflection. Each week, I notice my growth and improvement, which motivates me to push forward. When stress rises, I pause, take a deep breath, and remind myself of the path I’m on. Believing in myself has been the most powerful tool in staying motivated and managing my workload. I’ve also made myself aware of all the support services available, and there are a lot, so I know where to go for support and guidance when I need it.
What I enjoy most about Essex Business School is the abundance of opportunities it provides for my future. The teaching style encourages independence while providing support, and the campus environment is vibrant, diverse, and well-resourced. It feels like a place where growth is not only possible but expected.
One of the highlights of my journey has been working with classmates from different backgrounds and age groups. I love collaborating with people who bring unique skills, perspectives, and cultural experiences. These interactions have broadened my worldview and taught me the value of teamwork in a global context.
If you’re starting at Essex Business School, my biggest advice is to make full use of the resources available. The Career Hub is fantastic for finding job opportunities, while 1-2-1 support hours and the Library provide invaluable help with research, academic skills, and wellbeing. Don’t hesitate to reach out to tutors, advisers, or support services. They’re here to help you succeed.
After graduation, my goal is to put all the skills I’ve acquired into practice. I aspire to find a remote job that allows me to balance professional growth with my passion project: Ayogui Club, a non-profit society I began building in 2023 to support people living with chronic pain and fibromyalgia. Combining career success with meaningful social impact is the vision I’m working toward.
