Following Welcome Week at the University of Essex, where diverse cultures converge and academic ambitions flourish, one individual we warmly welcome is a Canadian international student ready to embrace all the opportunities Essex has to offer, whilst continuing to pursue his athletic aspirations in track and field.

Introducing… Zack Kuzyk

“I am a Canadian international student studying here at Essex. I’m 24 years old and was born and raised in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. After completing my undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University, I am now working towards my Master’s degree in Physiotherapy.

I chose Essex because of their excellent academic programs in addition to having the opportunity to meet other students from around the world. Essex has further facilitated my studies as an international student as I was fortunate enough to receive the Vice Chancellor’s Global Talent scholarship alongside the Performance Sport Scholarship benefit package to continue pursuing track and field. I am confident that Essex has provided me with the resources to be successful in both my academic and athletic endeavours while studying overseas.

Despite just arriving from Canada, I have felt incredibly welcomed by peers, roommates, and University staff and have already been able to interact with individuals from all over the world. This speaks to the University’s inclusivity and well-established international student population. I am looking forward to taking advantage of everything Essex has to offer as I work towards completing my degree over the next 2 years.”
