If you’re a postgraduate student, research technician or academic staff member, you could be in with a chance to be awarded one of 50 grants of £1,000.

The University first joined the Santander Universities network back in 2007. Since then our partnership has gone from strength to strength with over £2 million being awarded in the form of scholarships, internships, travel bursaries and start-up grants.

Now, as part of their on-going commitment to supporting higher education, Santander Universities is extending the support they offer to help fund amazing postgraduate students and academics across the Universities network.

Awarded on a random basis, the grants can be used on resources, equipment, travel, workshop or conference attendance or any other research-based expenses. This opportunity is open to any postgraduate students and academic staff members conducting research at a UK university and you can be conducting research in any field.

How to apply

Applications are made on the Santander Scholarships platform, where you’ll need to log in or register for a new account. After logging in, you’ll get a confirmation email and you can then apply for the Santander Universities Research Grants initiative. Sixteen years of support from Santander Universities

The Santander Universities network was developed in 2002 to create life changing opportunities in the higher education sector which foster sustainability through inclusive and impactful support. Focussing on three key areas – Education, Entrepreneurship and Employability – Santander aims to create a positive impact on the communities in which they operate.

Essex joined the network five years after it launched, and since then, we've received donations in excess of £1.85 million. This funding has supported nearly 250 scholarships, more than 250 internships and over 150 travel bursaries and grants.
