5 Essential things to do before moving in

1. Visit the campus

This may seem obvious, but it is easy to get lost on your first day or struggle to find your way if you haven’t scouted out campus beforehand. Consider taking a trip down to campus before your moving day to understand the layout and figure out where you’ll need to go. 2. Order the essentials

Bedding packs, electrical supplies, cutlery, dishes, pillowcases... You’ll have the opportunity to get a whole new vibe for your living space! Consider the main three areas: bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. You will need to make sure you have everything for sleeping such as pillows and bed covers, as well as anything you need for cooking meals and taking care of your hygiene. 3. Invest in headphones

There will be times where either you or someone that you share accommodation with will need some peace and quiet, especially during exam periods. Sometimes you may want to listen to music or play computer games at a time where your fellow students need some solitude. There may also be times when it’s you who needs some quiet time, so putting on some headphones will help.

4. Learn how to make your favourite meals

University can be a time that many students pick up some unhealthy eating habits such as being too reliant on takeaways or living off quick, starch-heavy meals. Not only is this expensive long-term but learning to cook even one or two meals will eliminate the need to pick up these skills later in life.
