Dr Abhisek Kuanr is a Lecturer in Marketing at Essex Business School, University of Essex, UK. His research and teaching focus is on the intersection of marketing and technology, with a particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI), consumer behaviour, and digital marketing. Dr Kuanr is passionate about exploring how AI-driven technologies are reshaping the marketing landscape and empowering businesses to engage with consumers in innovative and personalised ways.
Sustainability represents a critical imperative for business leaders, managers, and entrepreneurs in today’s interconnected global economies. In a world increasingly shaped by environmental, social, and governance (ESG) concerns, the shift from traditional business practices to sustainable and ethical models offers profound opportunities to drive long-term value while addressing global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality. Emerging frameworks, tools, and technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), enable organisations to measure, analyse, and enhance their sustainability performance across supply chains, operations, and stakeholder networks.
This module aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to integrate sustainability principles into business strategies and operations. Students will learn to identify key sustainability challenges, leverage AI-driven tools and analytical frameworks to assess organisational and environmental impacts, and design actionable strategies for sustainable transformation. By exploring how information technologies, such as predictive analytics and machine learning, can optimise resource use and environmental performance, students will develop a forward-looking perspective on sustainability. The module will also include case studies and practical applications across various business functions, demonstrating how sustainability, complemented by technologies, can drive innovation and competitive advantage in the modern business landscape.
