Ensuring your teaching practice is inclusive for disabled students

The Equality Act places a duty on the University to ensure that disabled students have access to the curriculum. It is important that you ensure all students are able to access your course and materials, and that you meet the learning needs of students with disabilities.

Some students may choose not to disclose their disability and some disabilities aren’t always ‘visible’ so it’s good practice to make sure your teaching is always inclusive.

Training and development

You can increase your knowledge of disabilities and their impact on a student’s learning through the Raising Awareness programme. This series of short information sessions also provides ideas about increasing inclusive practice.
