Impact Guidance and Resources

Impact does not just arise from excellent research; it requires planning, effort, collaboration and corroboration.

  • The University of Essex Research Impact Toolkit provides a suite of tools and resources to help you start planning an impact strategy and make research impact an integral part of your research practice.
  • The Designing Engagement and Evaluation for Impact Framework is a useful tool to help you plan for impact and to identify activities, outputs/deliverables, and intended outcomes of your research.
  • The Researcher Development Framework (RDF) is a framework developed for researchers, which aims to help you understand the knowledge, behaviours and attitudes expected of effective and highly skilled researchers. Find out more about impact and access resources in the Engagement, Knowledge Exchange and Impact module.
  • Impact Academy provides training and development opportunities to improve your understanding of research impact and build your skills to maximise the societal, economic and environmental impact of your research. The programme, delivered by external experts and specialist staff from the University’s Research and Enterprise Office, covers all aspects of the research impact lifecycle and offers opportunities for academic, research and professional services staff of all levels.
