Ionising Radiation Protection Sub-Group supervises the use of ionising radiation and radioactive substances in the University and to ensure that the provisions in our codes of practice and local rules for the protection of persons exposed to such radiations in research and teaching are carried out. Biological Hazards and Genetic Modification Protection Safety Sub-Group supervises the work involving biological hazards and genetic manipulation within the University and ensures the provisions of codes of practice and local rules for such work are complied with and approve genetic manipulation projects and prepare reports as required by the Health and Safety Executive Advisory Committee on Genetic Manipulation.
