Research Project

Speech Production Error Patterns in Language Acquisition and Language Loss

Principal Investigators
Dr Faith Chiu
Dr Typhanie Prince

About the project

Both typically developing children and people with aphasia are observed to systematically modify their production of words containing consonant sequences (also consonant clusters).

Focusing specifically on French consonant sequences, this ongoing project accounts for observed speech errors in language acquisition (children) and language loss (people with aphasia) with the notion of phonological complexity.

Key publication

Chiu, F. and Prince, T., (2019). The production of French consonant sequences in typically developing children and in people with aphasia. Stem-, Spraak- en Taalpathologie. Supplement (24)
