Profile

Biography

Bevan started out shooting ‘behind the scenes’ material on feature films and made the leap to directing fiction with the short film, Mumbo Jumbo, starring Andrew Garfield, Tom Brooke and Javone Prince. His follow up, Love Does Grow on Trees, was nominated for a British Independent Film Award and singled out for praise by Danny Boyle at the ceremony. It premiered in the US at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it was named one of New York Magazine’s “Top Five Shorts at Tribeca” and then went on to win numerous accolades at festivals internationally. The film received 40,000 views in it’s first week online and was called “Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.” by IT Crowd creator Graham Linehan. His third short, First the Worst, premiered at Tribeca, and has since screened at the Seoul International Short Film Festival, Buster International Children’s Film Festival in Copenhagen, and Gold Coast International Film Festival in New York. He has been featured in an Arena Magazine profile of “the next generation of filmmakers”, was one of 25 filmmakers selected for the London Film Festival ‘Think-Shoot-Distribute’ programme for emerging talent and also part of ‘Triangle’, the British Film Institute / Screen Yorkshire feature film development programme. He is currently developing short and feature film projects that continue his investigation into identity, sexuality and masculinity, and can also be found teaching filmmaking and occasionally directing commercials, but please don't hold that against him.
