Biography

I have been working as the Research Impact Officer for the Faculty of Humanities since April 2018, after working for the UK Data Archive focusing on ethical issues arising from qualitative research on sensitive topics. Before coming to work at the University of Essex, I was a lecturer and researcher at St Helena Hospice, Colchester, with particular interests in psycho-social aspects of palliative care, medical humanities and therapeutic arts. The breadth and depth of this experience informs the support and encouragement I can offer the Humanities Faculty in planning, monitoring and evidencing research impact. This is enhanced by the training I have attended to extend my understanding of research impact and public and policy engagement. In turn, I can signpost training to researchers on these topics, or offer in-house training as part of the Research Impact Team and Impact Academy training events. I am also a member of the Health and Medical Humanities Hub.
