Profile

Biography

I am a political theorist with research interests in fairness, the rights of parents and of children, and the values underpinning public policy. I examine questions of distributive justice, rights, and responsibility that lie at the heart of various contemporary debates in politics. One theme of recent work concerns having, raising and relating to children. Recent articles ask: should we lower the minimum voting age? and what are the ethics of having children in a climate-challenged world? I also address policy questions concerning other marginalised groups, including non-human animals, and questions concerning waste and conspicuous consumption in a context of wealth inequality. Before joining the Essex Department of Government, I was a postdoc at the Social Justice Centre at Concordia University, Montreal, and at the University of Southern Denmark. I hold a PhD in political theory from Pompeu Fabra University, in Barcelona. I have degrees in philosophy from the University of Bucharest and from the Central European University, and am originally from Bucharest, Romania.
