Dr Jamie Tallent

Profile

Biography

Jamie joined the University of Essex as a Senior Lecturer in Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences in September 2021. Previously he has worked at numerous academic institutes and was the lead strength and condition coach for Derbyshire County Cricket Club for 5 years. He also has over 10 years’ experience working in professional and developmental sport and has supported international and national athletes. He is a UK Strength and Conditioning Association tutor and grants panel member. Jamie has a PhD investigating neurological adaptations to eccentric resistance training. He works with numerous external partners that include the England Cricket Team, the Royal Ballet and professional football teams. He specialises in eccentric muscle contractions, neurological adaptations to resistance training, acute neuromuscular fatigue and has an interest in cricket and dance related research. He is also a board member of the Journal of Dance Medicine and Science.
