Biography

Mazen Ahmed is a driven researcher and Machine Learning Scientist currently leading a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Cooper Parry and the University of Essex, supported by Innovate UK. His work focuses on applying Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and automation technologies to enhance efficiency in financial and tax-related digital systems, particularly through innovations in iXBRL tagging and intelligent document processing. He is pursuing a PhD in Natural Language Processing at the University of Essex, where his research explores sequence tagging, generative AI, and domain adaptation of LLMs for FinTech applications. His work bridges academia and industry, combining theoretical advancements in AI with practical system development and deployment. Mazen Ahmed is passionate about innovation at the intersection of AI, automation, and financial technology. His professional interests include large-scale model fine-tuning, process automation, data extraction and tagging, and human-AI collaboration in digital reporting systems. He continues to contribute to research, development, and applied innovation through his work at Cooper Parry a company recognized as the UKs #1 accountancy firm to work for, B Corp Certified, and known for its pioneering approach to digital transformation.
