Basic research; molecular mechanisms of signal transduction in the context of cancer: Since 2014 we apply the revolutionary CRISPR/Cas9 technique to edit candidate genes in the genome of human cell lines and study the effects of mutations found in large NGS datasets. One particular focus is the candidate tumour suppressor SCRIB. We have incorporated the CRISPR/Cas9 technique in our final-year and MSc research projects. Current research

Proteogenomics of cancer

My research and interests are in the field of cell and molecular biology and genomics/proteomics with special emphasize on cancer. We use quantitative mass spectrometry, molecular genetics, and computational approaches and statistics to study how aberrant protein expression, protein interactions and phosphorylation affect the tumour phenotype. The long term aim is to contribute to the development of novel diagnostics and therapies for cancer.
