Profile
Biography
Caroline joined the University of Essex as an Academic Skills Tutor in 2016 and provides academic writing support to foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate and PGR students from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. She has extensive experience teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in the UK and internationally, across a range of educational settings including private language schools and Further Education colleges. Caroline holds a PhD in English Language Teaching from the University of Essex. Her doctoral thesis, Healthcare students experiences of writing at university: negotiating theory, practice and identity formation, explores student writers experiences on Health and Social Care programmes, with a particular focus on how students navigate theory and practice and develop writer identity. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). She has contributed to publications and conference presentations on academic literacies, including work on developing academic writing and using creative approaches, such as poetry, to support student learning.
