Biography
Sara joined the University of Essex in September 2019, as a Lecturer in the School of Health and Social Care, in the Speech and Language Therapy subject team. Sara is an HCPC and RCSLT registered Speech and Language Therapist and worked clinically in variety of school and clinic settings prior to joining the University as a Lecturer. Sara’s research interest is in neurodiversity, including in neurodivergent affirming practice. She is currently involved in research projects investigating lived experience of, cross neurotype communication, burnout, and interoception in autistic and ADHD individuals. Sara completed her PhD (in Psychology) focused on emotion processing in autistic children, and her post-doctoral work (in Education) focused on the development of educational collaborative virtual environments for autistic children.
