Two young fans enjoy last year's event

The Colchester community is urged to celebrate the best of the city by the Essex Rebels at a special family-fun packed event.

Community Day marks the club’s final doubleheader gameday of the season and promises a full day of sport, family activities and live entertainment, as fans are invited to join the Rebels to celebrate.

Unfolding on Saturday, April 4, the day is a way for the high-flying Essex Rebels to thank everyone for their support.

With tickets on-sale now.

Diana Voynova, Essex Rebels Manager, said: “Our fans are at the heart of everything we do, and this is our way to celebrate them.

“Community Day is about bringing families, young people and local businesses together for a day of fun, energy and top-level sport.

“We want to make it special - it’s a celebration of everyone who has been part of our journey.

“We’d also like to say a big thank you to our sponsors Clubb Creative for supporting our Community Day.

"Thanks to the support of local businesses, we’re able to continue making an impact in the community.”

Starting at 1pm, children can enjoy junior sports taster sessions, where youngsters can try basketball, cricket, and climbing.

From 2pm, the Rebels Community Fanzone will bring a festival atmosphere to the arena, with local food vendors, independent businesses and a range of family-friendly entertainment.

Highlights include an Easter egg hunt, face painting, games, music, giveaways and creative activities such as poster and bracelet making.

Attention then turns to the court, with a doubleheader of top-level basketball against two London teams.

The Rebels women take on the London Lions at 4pm in the Super League Basketball, before the men face the London Cavaliers at 6.30pm to round off the day’s action.

Community Day provides an opportunity for the club to thank supporters for their backing throughout the year and to showcase the strong connection between the Rebels and the local area.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early and be part of the celebrations.
