A student from Vietnam is hoping her Essex education will give her the skills and experience she needs to help businesses in her home country thrive in the international market.

Thi Phuong Anh Nguyen is studying for an MSc in International Business and Entrepreneurship at Essex Business School, thanks to the University’s highly-successful Women of the Future Appeal.

The scheme was set up to support bright and inspirational women from across the globe and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to become leaders and drivers of change.

Thi is one of 30 students to receive a scholarship this academic year and she says without it, she would not have been able to continue her education and reach her goal of becoming a business consultant.

“Many Vietnamese companies want to expand globally, but come up against lots of barriers,” she explained. “I want to go back to Vietnam and contribute to my country. With a very good degree and international-standard knowledge, I can apply what I have learned to assist Vietnamese enterprises to increase profitability and efficiency and to integrate globally.”

Thi was particularly keen to study at Essex Business School because of the combined course in both international business and entrepreneurship.
