Class of 2017: Sam Brough

All this week we are celebrating the achievements of some of our students who are graduating in the class of 2017. Sam Brough, graduating today from Edge Hotel School, tells us his story.

Sam Brough (BA Hotel Management) found his career path while on work experience and is now a Footman working at Buckingham Palace and other Royal residences.

His duties vary enormously day to day –from serving a small lunch to preparing the ballroom for a state banquet, delivering functions of all scales to the highest standards in the industry.

“At Edge Hotel School I developed industry knowledge, not just academically, but also practically. Most importantly I gained the skills and confidence necessary to be in the position I am in today. Working as a team we aim to deliver the highest standards at all times. The Household offers great opportunities for development.

“Essex was a wonderful place to complete my degree, offering so much socially as well as incredible academic facilities. My fondest memories are those I had with friends at different Students’ Union events including the fantastic summer balls!”
