Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) is the most common form of leukaemia affecting adults. It is a genetically heterogenous disease, with its molecular drivers not as clearly understood when compared to other malignancies.

Speaker

Tim did his PhD on the link between diet and colorectal cancer under the supervision of Professor Sheila Bingham at Cambridge. He moved into the field of cancer epigenetics with his first postdoctoral position, dividing his time between the University Medical Center Freiburg (Germany) and Brigham & Women's Hospital (Boston, USA), where he worked on the loss of imprinting in breast cancer and DNA methylation changes in colorectal cancer. In 2014 he moved to Newcastle University and began to work on chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, which has been his primary research focus ever since. He moved to Essex in January, after five years as a lecturer at the University of Sunderland.
