Lakeside Theatre Welcome Week and Freshers Fair 2023

The home of theatre, comedy and music on campus. Visit the Lakeside Theatre for drop-in tours throughout Welcome Week and discover what the cultural hub of campus has to offer.

We take Welcome Week VERY SERIOUSLY at the Lakeside Theatre! We are joined in the Lakeside Theatre Café by Barking based Caribbean restaurant, Jerkpit, for a pop-up serving authentic Caribbean flavours.

Our café will be open 9am to 5pm daily throughout Welcome Week to offer a relaxing and accessible safe space on campus, away from the hubbub of squares 3 and 4.

What's on during Welcome Week

• Visit our stall at the Welcome Village on Square 5, Monday 2 to Thursday 5 October, 11am to 2pm and at Freshers Fair, Friday 6 October, 11am to 5pm, to find our more about our Autumn 2023 programme of theatre, workshops and events!
• Join us in the Studio for a wellbeing workshop with Shomi Williams, Psychological Therapist and founder of Lafiya Health for FREE on Wednesday 4 October at 2pm.
• Enjoy authentic Caribbean flavours from our Jerkpit pop-up in the Lakeside Theatre Café daily, 9am to 5pm.
• Become a Lakeside Theatre member (annual membership costs just £6 for Essex students and lasts a whole year with loads of discounts and benefits!
• Join our mailing list to discover the latest releases as we announce them.
• Discover some amazing merch (bags and mugs anyone??).
• Come to our first show of the Autumn 2023 season! Fatherhood, by Shane Shambhu, Friday 6 October, 7pm. Student tickets are £6 advance or £8 on the door!
