This four-part workshop series will enable you to design an app suited to your business. Each of the sessions will take you through the essential stages of app development. The sessions are non-technical and explore topics such as intellectual property, user interface and financing the build of your app.

At the end of the workshop series, you will have the opportunity to pitch for business idea support from Pocket App (equivalent to £5k).

These workshops are open to all students who can commit to attending all four sessions, and who haven’t participated in our previous app development workshop series.

Workshop One: Capturing your idea

Workshop Two: App User Experience (UX) and Design

30 November 2022, 2pm-4pm

  • Developing customer personas

  • Wire framing / paper prototyping
  • Tools to design / wireframe
  • Building an interactive prototype

Workshop Three: Building your App

25 January 2023, 2pm-4pm

  • Approach options
  • Working with a Chief Technology Officer / internal team vs hiring externally

  • Continued app design work and idea development

Workshop Four: Finance and Funding

8 February 2023, 2pm-4pm

  • How to raise money
  • Company formation
  • Funding your company, finding investment
  • Selling your idea to others –pitch preparation

  • Continued app design work and idea development

The Pitch

23 February 2023

Pitch your idea to a panel of experts to be in with a chance of receiving business idea support from UK industry leaders Pocket App – a prize equivalent to £5k! You must attend all four workshops to be included in the pitch event.
