Essex Law School
Induction to your new School is an essential part of Welcome Week.
Your School induction is a compulsory part of Welcome Week.
Come and find out more about your course, meet key members of staff like your personal tutor, and meet the people you’re going to be studying with.
Studying more than one subject? If you're studying a joint degree, you should access key support through your home department. If you're not sure which is your home department, you can find out on MyEssex.
Your Welcome week will be a great opportunity to meet some key members of staff such as your personal tutor and give you the chance to speak with some of your fellow students who will be studying on your course with you. We expect you to attend as you will receive important information to help you start your University experience.
You will also have the chance to hear about our Essex Law Clinic and Human Rights Centre (where current students work on real cases and provide advice to members of the public), meet current 2nd and 3rd-year students and get advice about what studying Law is like, and how to use your time at Essex to your advantage to get the best degree and experience possible.
Following Welcome week you will be asked to attend a regular group meeting with either your personal tutor or an experienced student. This scheduled personal tutor tutorial will be sent to your personal outlook calendar. These meetings will be a key opportunity for us to give you timely advice that is relevant to where you are in your University journey, and will give you the chance to ask questions and share the experiences of other students.
During term the School will be organising a series of events to help you make the most of your degree and prepare you for life after your graduate. We will be giving you the chance to increase your commercial awareness, gain and share study and career skills and help you create study groups, as well as some activities that are purely for fun and give you the chance to unwind and socialise.
